SEPTEMBER 2018
I have now been represented for a whole month…and I haven’t booked a single job! As you can see, I am still getting used to this waiting game that is otherwise know as the professional career of acting. When I returned to the industry in 2014 via the Indie scene, I blitzed through each month like a whirling dervish, sending off applications for roles, submitting self-tapes and attending auditions with barely a free moment. Now that I am in the hands of an agent I must step back and let someone else do the whirling for me. I have never been a very patient person, so this is a hard pill for me to swallow. But I have come to accept that in this industry waiting is a big part of what you must do to succeed. It is no longer about getting any role, it’s about getting the right role. And that is going to take more time.
Sheltered premiered in London this month…at the 23rd Annual Portobello Film Festival and it was such a treat to travel down to the capital and see myself on the big screen again! I can’t wait to share this film with you but, in the meantime, here’s a link to the trailer https://vimeo.com/267383322
This month also sees the completion of Convergence…a feature film written and directed by Steve Johnson. I am delighted to share the news that I have a small role in this big film. If you would like to find out more, follow the Facebook page on this link https://www.facebook.com/convergencefilmuk/
In more exciting news, Armchair Detectives…was nominated for a Scottish BAFTA! I am beyond excited and the 4th November can’t come quickly enough for me. Congratulations to Carly Brooks and all at Tiger Aspect Productions as well as the cast and crew of this fabulous show. Fingers crossed very soon I will be able to write about being in a BAFTA winning television series!
Acting classes at SAFA…are going very well despite a few things preventing me from attending classes recently. That’s the thing about real life, sometimes it gets in the way of you doing the thing that you want to do the most. This session we’re having a special class covering unarmed stage combat and sword and shield, so I’m looking forward to seeing Janet Lawson from Stage Fight Scotland again.
I’m getting new headshots taken tomorrow…which means I’m going to have to love you and leave you so I can get my beauty sleep!
But for the whole of this month of October please remember what JM Storm said,
October is about trees revealing colours they’ve hidden all year. People have an october as well.
So, go out there and reveal your colours and have a wonderful month!
